GALLERY INSTALLATIONS
Peter's interactive musical sculptures have been displayed in galleries around Leicester.
Hexagram 53
Hexagram 53 was Peter's first exploration of interactive and algorithmic composition. The installation is comprised of an old and negleted erhu, fitted with a contact microphone and microcontroller. The listener plays a note on the erhu, and the microcontroller uses pitch and amplitude information and composes a response to what's being played. This response is played through headphones.
Meditation For Piano 4
Another exploration of algorithmic music, interactive systems, and instrument hacking, Meditation For Piano 4 is comprised of a disassembled keyboard, with a microcontroller and a set of copper pipes. The pipes are a component in a capacitive circuit that responds to the electromagnetic fields in the listener's skin. Meditation 4's design is full of themes close to Peter's heart, with elements of distance, uncertainty, touch and fragility.
